Lawn Mowing

How often do you cut lawns?

During a growing season (March to October), regular mowing is weekly or fortnightly.

When do you start and stop mowing?

We start mowing in March and stop mowing at the end of October.

Miscellaneous

Are you insured?

Yes, we are fully insured for all the work we do, up to £ 5 million.

Do you still mow in the rain?

Yes, we have special mower blades to ensure wet grass collection. All our staff are given water proofs. Cutting in the wet may take a bit longer. We would rather cut the grass in the rain, because we cannot normally provide an alternative slot, and we don't know if it will be raining again on your next due date.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

This is not an answer we can give which much accuracy over the phone. We will come out and look at your requirments and give you a quote then.

Salt gritting and Snow Ploughing

Snow ploughing is most effective, when the snow is fresh, or hasn't been driven on, which then compacts the snow.

Our biggest snow ploughs are 12 ft wide and mounted on the front of large 4wd tractors. The snow ploughs have a thick rubber strip at the base, which runs along the ground. This strip will move, when passing over a manhole cover or obstacle and will not gouge or scratch the car park or road surface. Snow is driven across the car parks and pushed up into piles at either end of the car park where possible.

What Happens When the Snow is compacted due to Multiple Cars driving over it?

This is a very common situation, which makes snow ploughing less effective. Sometimes it is unavoidable, as we cannot plan when the snow will fall, and when it will stop.

When snow has been compacted, and the temperatures are low, the compacted snow freezes, and forms a thick layer of compacted snow (basically ice). The snow plough will remove any loose bits, but will run across the surface of the compacted snow. Metal tractor or digger buckets will sometimes be able to remove this, but we do not recommend it, as if the road / car park surface is damaged, this could prove very costly.

It is very difficult to have a car park which is spotless from compacted snow. If the snow falls overnight, we can start ploughing when it stops, but we would only be able to get to select areas of the car parks, due to the traffic, so the ploughing is really limited to the weekends and overnight.

The main aim of our service is to keep things moving and you in business. If this is achieved, then our service has been successful.
